Traditional Japanese cuisine usually does not include pork, but many Western influenced foods could include pork. Katsu don, tonkatsu, and shouga yaki are some examples of modern Japanese foods that are usually made with pork.
Soups, snacks and popular foods like curry may use pork extract (ポークエキス).
Ground meats should first be checked, since the most common ground meat is a combination of pork and beef 合いびき肉(aibiki), so check before you order or buy! Croquettes and dumplings could contain pork.
