post office

Japan Post is the national post service in Japan. They have competitive rates for sending mail or packages nationally and overseas, with varying prices and speed of delivery (air or sea mail). Check out the English version of their website for more information!

Japan Post also serves as a bank, and provides international money-transfer services, even if you are not with their bank (though you will need to do this by handing them cash instead of wire transfer).

There are also other private post companies with services such as luggage pickup and delivery to airports (this service can also be requested at a conbini). See Yamato’s English website to find information about their services or to request them to pick up a package from your house.

The main private post companies are Yamato and Sagawa.
